Hope,
Comes like a freight train,
sparks flying,
never stopping to consider
that you did not want it there.
It will land on your shoulder
like a monarch
and infect you with the poison
that is its will.
It will rock you
on nights you cannot dream
and trick you
into believing it.
It will find you on your knees and demand:
LOOK AT ME
It will catch you in its net and scream:
YOU WILL KNOW ME
It will hand you the pill and say:
YOU WILL SWALLOW ME
It will seep into the crevice
that we call despair
and leave without a trace.
